October 10, 200422 yr New York, NY, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A conservative U.S. broadcaster whose outlets reach one-quarter of the nation's TV viewers is airing a film that attacks John Kerry just before the election. Sinclair Broadcast Group has ordered its 62 stations to preempt regular programming during primetime to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday. The film, funded by Pennsylvania veterans and produced by a veteran and former Washington Times reporter, features former POWs accusing Kerry -- a decorated U.S. Navy veteran who later protested the war -- of worsening their ordeal by prolonging the conflict. The Kerry campaign blasted Sinclair for what it says is strongarming its stations into broadcasting lies to influence the political process, the Times said. "It's beyond yellow journalism," said Kerry spokesman David Wade. "It's a smear bankrolled by Republican money, and I don't think Americans will stand for it." The one-hour special, which will be aired between Oct. 21 and Oct. 24 depending on the city, will be followed by a panel discussion to which Kerry will be invited, potentially satisfying fairness regulations, the Times reported.
October 10, 200422 yr Author Any proof that media outlets has outrightly ordered its underlings to play proKerry or antiBush stuff like these clowns? What direct Soros link are you talking about? Wanna extrapolate on that rant? Interestingly enough I just watched CNN's Reliable Sources and the host asked the reporters to respond to assertions that they feel compelled to get defensive about the liberal media bias and in doing so, theyve given Bush free passes on his heavier mistruths. The ABCnews guy-Kerry has been just as bad. The CBSnews lady-Kerry has gotten as many free passes, the NBCnews lady-its important to cover both mistruths. Yeah, sure media agenda. Just also saw Wolfe Blitzer hound Edwards about why we cant consider Iraq a success and a good thing if elections happen. Also demanded Edwards defend the assertions that his "Cheney has a gay daughter" words were convenient. Yeah, media agenda.
October 10, 200422 yr Sinclair preempted ABC's Nightline special that slammed the President a while back. Sinclair isn't one of the most liked station groups, but they own alot of stations. Largest one I can think of is WB38 in Tampa Bay. They also own the FOX and WB stations in Baltimore.
October 10, 200422 yr This is called editorial preemptions. It is allowed because they invited Kerry to send a representative to the discussion after.
October 10, 200422 yr Also, I didn't see the "outrage" of CBS taking their radio affiliates hostage and making many of them air town hall meetings for Bill Clinton to discuss his new book. They presented these as newcasts and aired them on some of the largest, most powerful radio stations in the country. It involved Bush-bashing and had no opposing voice even invited. Sinclair is a small tv group that doesn't reach many swing areas, CBS owns radio stations all over the place.
October 10, 200422 yr Author Any proof that media outlets has outrightly ordered its underlings to play proKerry or antiBush stuff like these clowns? The now notorious ABC memo story recently broken by Drudge leaps to mind. http://www.drudgereport.com/abcmemo.jpg What direct Soros link are you talking about? Wanna extrapolate on that rant? Oh yea, Soros and his MoveOn, ACT, etc minions are completely unbiased and just interested in getting out the vote. The only ones who can't figure out what side they're on are in comas right now. 588273 1.Ok, show me that the Bush administration is definitley not playing more mistruths? Ordering objectivity now becomes partisan politics? By your lax standard, if an media outlet said we have to point out that one candidate has said nothing that is true, they are biased against him. Has ABC not called Kerry out on his stretches? Can you show me that they havent? I want you to answer one simple question for me. Should legit journalism not hold someone accountable to maintain subjective perception? Is Sinclair also demanding its stations put forth antiBush stuff the way ABC ACTUALLY HAS PUT KERRY EXAGERATIONS ON?! 2. Youre insatiable distaste for moveon.org doesnt make it a media outlet. Do they ever claim unbiased perspective? We are talking about media outlets that report the news..legitamite journalism. Convenient that you drag moveon.org into the realm of journalism to prove your point. Ok, is mattdrudge biased? He has been spewing his crap for years now? Moveon came much later. Why arent you up in arms over Drudge?
October 10, 200422 yr Ok, is mattdrudge biased? He has been spewing his crap for years now? Moveon came much later. Why arent you up in arms over Drudge? 588356 How long did the cronies at CBS including Cronkite and Rather keep spewing Democratic Party propaganda as news? On TV, Radio, in newspapers and before that in MovieTone News segments?
October 11, 200422 yr Author About as long as Peter Jennings has been doing the same thing on ABC. What are you guys bitchin about? You have your own station in Foxnews. I think Ive asked you this before...are there any liberals with their own shows out there? Air America is the only one and that is brand new. And thats not a good defense of what tonyi was trying to argue. He is trying to drag active participants of bias into the mix. Im not sure you got my point.
