October 19, 200421 yr Just got back from The Rally in The Packed Kirby Center with goosebumps still running. I saw Al Gore 4 years ago in the same spot, he got one standing 0 and a luke warm responce, Kerry ignited the room with an amazing speech with over 10 standing 0's and huge chants throughout the speech of (Like father, Like Son, 1 term and you're done). Also The Bush people who were supposed to be protesting across the speech lost almost all their signs when they rested them up against a building and a gust of wind came and all theri banners and signs fell into a huge puddle. The Pro Life people were also ticketed for loitering around the square around the building which the center. It's a major hube of traffic which they had their vans with cut open fetuses on them, continue to circle slowing down traffic trying to get through before the roads were closed. They were given their tickets and told to send their vans away. Inside we had a hilarious speech from Joe Hoefell who's running a lost campaign against Arlen Spector just making fun of The Silver Bullet Theory and our "Scottish" Senator. When Kerry came out it was electric with everyone exploding, it was also 72 years ago this day that the last Democratic Challenger came to the same stage facing a republican who had lost jobs. He ignited the room with his programs for social security and outsourcing along with job security, and he touched on how all the former small buisnesses closed in the square that was once a booming hub, he talked about the recent factory closings in our area and talking about the middle class. When I was talking to some of the camera guys I knew as a kid when my mom worked for the local newsstation. They who were at this event and Bush's event at the same venue and were all independents agreed that Kerry's speech caused more of a stir for the base and was overall a better speech. A great day and worth the two hour wait in the cold as everyone tried to get through tight security.
