October 30, 200422 yr "We want people to think 'terrorism' for the last four days," said a Bush-Cheney campaign official. "And anything that raises the issue in people's minds is good for us." A senior GOP strategist added, "anything that makes people nervous about their personal safety helps Bush." He called it "a little gift," saying it helps the President but doesn't guarantee his reelection. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/247753p-212149c.html
October 30, 200422 yr You hypocrites. You nail Bush to the cross or fear mongering terrorism, an issue that the public clearly finds him more capable of dealing with. But where's your righteous indignation when Kerry tramps around the country telling people they'll lose their jobs overseas, or lose their prescription benefits, etc?
October 30, 200422 yr Author You hypocrites. You nail Bush to the cross or fear mongering terrorism, an issue that the public clearly finds him more capable of dealing with. But where's your righteous indignation when Kerry tramps around the country telling people they'll lose their jobs overseas, or lose their prescription benefits, etc? 604613[/snapback] Nobody is saying its wrong for Bush to argue that if Kerry is elected, he will not do as god a job protecting the country. But you can make that argument without infusing fear in people. It would be unacceptable for any Dem to say that a massive layoff by a good company is a "gift" for Kerry or that anything that causes consumer confidence to go down helps Kerry. Arguing that the state of the nation is the way it is is one thing but practically living off of it is another. What Bush does on countless occasions is point to Kerry's past votes and says he is weak on defense. Kerry points to Bush's actions that hurt the economy. Thats politics. But to say we want people to live in fear is a joke.
October 31, 200422 yr You know, we've had a free ride since 9/11. And it was pretty clear to me on that day that terrorism would be THE foremost important thing to consider. It would be like that for you too, had Dashcle not gotten the ball rolling on turning it into a left/right issue rather than an American issue. Baa.
