How do you say "I'm going to talk about".

Voy a hablar de. . .?

If you've learned future tense...

Yo hablare(acento on the e) sobre...

How about this?

Gabriel Garcia Marquez had many brothers and sisters but lived with his grandparents, by himself.

That doesn't really make sense.

At any rate...

Gabriel Garcia Marquez tuvo muchas hermanos pero vivio con sus abuelos.

Not sure how the "by himself" would translate. Every way I think of it sounds awkward.

I see what you're saying.

What I'm trying to say is that although GGM had many brothers and sisters he didn't live with them. He was the only of his parent's children to live with his grandparents.

Hmmm, I guess one could say something like...

Aunque GGM tuvo muchos hermanos el no vivio con ellos. El fue el solo hijo de sus padres vivir con sus abuelos.

PS: Jennifer, we're way past that.

Let me correct it for you: Aunque GGM tuvo muchos hermanos, el nunca vivio con ellos. El fue el el unico hijo de sus padres que vivio con sus abuelos.

So it's Vivi? (pretererite) not viv?a (imperfect)?

I'm pretty sure it's preterite because everything occured in the past. Doesn't imperfect have to do with events that began in the past, but are continuing.

Well I learned that imperfect began and ended in the past. Like "cuando era joven". = When I was young. It's not a definite start and finish in the past.

That's probably how it works with indefinite time, however I'm pretty sure it's preterite for definite time.

EG: "Cuando tuve cinco anos..."
