Im not trying to rip on people here, but Ive been thinking about the arguments people have made against gun control. A lot of those same people are in favor of tort reform or lawsuit control.

We always hear how its people that kill people and not guns. Isnt the same concept applicable to lawsuits? I mean arent people the one's who abuse the legal system, not the lawsuits? Why is it ok to restrict one law abiding persons rights but not anothers? Why is one conduit ok but not another?

The only reform that 2nd amendment activists are asking for is to make it so a criminal that was breaking the law and then gets shot cannot sue to law abiding citizen defending himself.

You must agree that it is absurd that a criminal can break into your home, you shoot him in self defense, and then he turns around and sues you for everything you're worth and even if you do end up winning you will be fiscally ruined with exhorbitant legal bills.

The guy who murdered Jessica Lunsford, if her father caught him inside of their house and he shot the guy, that sick bastard could turn around and sue her father. Ridiculous? Most definitely.

I totally agree with you that a criminal who breaks into your home and then is shot at should have absoluletly no redress in the civil court system.

My qualm isnt necessarily what the strict 2nd amendment activists are asking for. There is a strong overlap between groups that oppose gun control and those who want sweeping tort reform, well beyond that of a criminal suing a victim.
