southkevin2
:mischief2 On Thursday, the Marlins are expected to call up left-handed pitcher Jason Vargas from Double-A Carolina. A second-round pick out of Long Beach State in 2004, Vargas has moved quickly through the system as a starter. He began the season at low Class A Greensboro, where he was 4-1 with an 0.80 ERA while striking out 33 batters in 33 2/3 innings. Vargas moved up to Class A Jupiter in early May, where he was 2-3 with a 3.42 ERA, striking out 60 in 55 1/3 innings. And on June 22, he began pitching for Double-A Carolina, where he was 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA, striking out 25 in 19 innings. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla Any of you heard anything about this? Why would they call him up to the big club now?
