Is this from your same "Almanza is going down" and "We are gonna get Rondell White on Trade Deadline Day" source?

Here's an article on the subject:

Odom makes second trip to Miami

Lamar Odom's quest for a long-term contract has taken the free-agent market's biggest remaining name back to Miami, for a second visit with Heat officials.

With Heat coach/president Pat Riley back in town, Odom arrived in Miami on Monday, according to league sources. Odom's hope is to secure an offer sheet from the Heat before he leaves this time, after which the Los Angeles Clippers would have 15 days to match the offer, as they did when Miami signed Elton Brand to an $82 million offer sheet.

Because Odom is a restricted free agent, Miami has withheld an offer sheet until now largely on the assumption that the Clippers would match. Clippers general manager Elgin Baylor has informed Odom that L.A. does intend to match any offer.

It remains to be seen if the Heat can construct an offer sufficiently rich and front-loaded -- perhaps averaging more than $10 million per season -- to make the Clippers change their mind. Clippers owner Donald Sterling has already invested an unprecedented $124 million in Brand and Corey Maggette.

If Odom does not land an offer sheet from the Heat, and if the Clippers refuse to increase their recent three-year offer to Odom worth $24 million, the 23-year-old can still elect to sign a one-year tender with L.A. that would make him an unrestricted free agent next summer. Miami is expected to have ample salary-cap space in the summer of 2004 to make another run at Odom if necessary.

we are going to sign odom to an offer sheet but that doesnt mean he will be a heat, the clippers can still match the offer, hopefully we'll put him out of the clippers price range, but we'll see

we not ganna sign him... we ganna offer him what you call an offer sheet... if he sign that offer sheet and his fromer team doesnt match it in 15day than his sign with that team..

I hope Riley does not over pay. We dont need another huge contract like the ones Jones and Grant have.

Odom is good but I would rather save the money to give KG the f***ing max next year.

they were saying they were ganna offer him 6 year / $ 60 mill or 3 years / $ 30 mill

Riley heads west for Odom talks

Heat coach returns from overseas to lure forward

DEAL NOT DONE: Los Angeles Clippers free agent forward Lamar Odom visited and left Miami without an offer sheet, but is still optimistic both parties will agree on a deal.

It seems no one outside the Heat offices believes the team has any chance of landing restricted free agent Lamar Odom, with the Clippers convincing almost everyone they will match any offer made to him.

But Heat coach Pat Riley will return from an overseas trip and fly directly to California today with the intention of wresting Odom from the Clippers. Odom and his agent already made a second trip to Miami on Monday to meet with Heat general manager Randy Pfund.

While the Clippers said at the start of free agency they intended to match any offers made to their restricted free agents, they already declined to match Denver's offer to Andre Miller and likely will pass on Odom if the Heat offers a max-type deal, according to one source. Los Angeles already has a combined $125 million invested over the next six years in Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, and Maggette can play two of the same positions -- shooting guard and small forward -- that Odom can play.

The Clippers have offered Odom a three-year deal worth $24 million, but a longer deal that averages better than $10 million a year would probably be out of their price range.

The Heat, however, has to be willing to offer such a contract.

Miami already has Brian Grant and Eddie Jones under contract for maximum dollars until 2007, and adding a third large contract to someone other than a dominant big man is not what Riley had in mind entering the free agent period.

And given that Odom's next choice of moves would be to sign a one-year tender with the Clippers that would make him an unrestricted free agent next season, the Heat could be willing to wait until then rather than commit to a long-term deal.

But adding Odom would not necessarily mean the Heat would be strapped with three max-type deals.

Should the Heat manage to pry Odom from the Clippers, the team would likely look seriously at trading Jones for depth, while seeking players with more friendly contracts. It's an idea Jones, 31, would not be completely opposed to, given his desire to play for a winning team as soon as possible.

HASLEM SIGNED

Impressed by his showing with Heat and Spurs summer-league teams, the Heat signed former University of Florida star Udonis Haslem to a two-year partially guaranteed contract.

Haslem averaged 6.6 points and seven rebounds in five games for the Heat's summer-league team and went on to lead the Spurs' summer-league team in rebounding.

Undrafted last summer, Haslem, a graduate of Miami High, played for the Hawks' summer-league team, then for Chalon in France, averaging 16 points and 9.5 rebounds.

Haslem, at 6-9 and 246 pounds, is much trimmer than he was during his college days but remains as active on the boards and a low-post threat. He has been compared to San Antonio's Malik Rose but with a better back-to-the-basket game and a slightly less consistent mid-range shot.

With Grant, Malik Allen and Samaki Walker already on the roster, Haslem might struggle to find playing time.
