Nats lose 10 straight 1-run games

Featured Replies

the nats after their torrid start to the season were one of the best stories in

baseball because of the way they squeeked out all those 1-run victories. however

many predicted that their magic would run out because they were nearly dead last

in every offensive catagory.and now the predictions are materializing and they

are sinking fast. winning all those 1-run games was in a way partly luck... im not

discounting the nats players skill though. BY winning all those 1 run games in the

1st half and now losing 1 run games in the second is called regressing back

towards the mean. All that means is that in the end they will probably have a

close to .500 win percentage in 1 run games at the end of the season and that

goes for pretty much all teams. But even though the nats are sinking you cant

discount the excitement they brought to washington. even if they dont make the

playoffs it was a great start to the franchise.

easier to read i guess

Sitting at RFK Stadium this past week I was pondering if the Nats win over the Marlins Sunday reinvigorated them. That they could go back to winning and forcing luck/chance's hand. Tonight you could feel the crowd and the team soar with confidence as Gary "The Polish Cannon" Majewski struck out Joe "Handy Man" Randa. That feeling and whatever remained from Sunday and the Dodgers series was drained in a little flare to rightfield.

Look for the Nats to lose this series and any chance at the playoffs in the next two weeks. San Diego's offense is built for this park. A bunch of slap-hitting role players. Facing Drese Saturday and riding Peavy Sunday should also help. Then a trip to Houston and the strong Phillies and Mets teams coming off the Rocky Mountain air messes with their swings and bodies.
