HEADING WEST

Class A Jupiter first baseman Jason Stokes heads the list of six Marlins minor-leaguers chosen for the prestigious Arizona Fall League.

Stokes, 21, has overcome offseason wrist surgery to hit .262 with 16 home runs and 79 RBI for the Hammerheads. The Marlins' top hitting prospect, Stokes will fill the organization's spot for Class A players.

Triple-A right-hander Jason Grilli, on the road back from reconstructive elbow surgery, will join Stokes in Arizona. Grilli is 2-2 with a 4.17 ERA in seven starts for Albuquerque.

Double-A Carolina right-handers Mike Flannery and Randall Messenger were chosen, as well as Double-A outfielder Chris Aguila and catcher Josh Willingham. Aguila is hitting .328 with nine homers.

Willingham is back after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last month. His conversion to catcher is temporarily on hold as he plays first, third and left.

Thanks for the up-date.
