August 12, 200323 yr i did report on him and the Olympic Team this year in one of my classes at IU.... great man you had to do a report on the him and the miracle team for school? lucky bastard he was responsble for one if not the greatest moment in American sports history. i dont know much about him as a person. i know that the guy was really hard on his players but got the most out of them. i know he coached '80 team, a few NHL teams, obviously the 2002 team and that he played in '64, '68 and was cut from the '60 team.
August 13, 200323 yr I'm one of the few kids I know at my age who know who Herb Brooks is. The Miracle on ice is THE GREATEST SPORTS MOMENT IN THIS COUNTRYS HISTORY. Period. - The Cold War with the Soviet Union (Russia) - The Economic Slump - The Iranian Hostage Crisis Finally in 1980 something lifted the U.S.A's spirits up... The Miracle on Ice That game basically made Al Michaels... "Do you believe in miracles?! Do YOU believe in MIRACLES?!" The amazing thing was, this wasn't even the Gold Medal game, we eventually won the gold medal against Finland. I've had the privelage to shake hands with Herb Brooks who is a legend in my part of the country, and with the Captain Mike Euruizone (oooh-roo-z-own-ee). He will be sorely missed. But Herb Brooks is also a notorious drinker. And he would have survived if he wore his seatbelt. Especially since the van ended up on its wheels. But he was at a golf tournament in NorthEast Minnesota and was only 20 minutes from home in St. Paul and he had his accident. Herb Brooks also lead the Minnesota Gophers hockey team to 3 National Titles in the 1970's. He is a hockey legend. And will be missed. Please now observe a moment of silence with me before this post is over in memoriam of Herb Brooks... Herb Brooks 1937-2003
August 13, 200323 yr it was one of the greatest sports moments in American history, and earlier i said that it could be the greatest but after thinking about it and hearing this from a few journalist we overlooked when Jackie Robinson slipped on that Dodger uniform. that could be considered a more important and greater sports moment and you can also consider it a great moment in American society.
