Ok so I computed Willis' ERA without the 3 bad starts he had. He would have an ERA of 1.90 and a record of 21-5.

Here are his ERA's for each month

Mar/Apr 1.29

May.... 2.06

June... 2.62

July... 7.14 (3 games where he gave up 8,8,7 runs)

Aug.... 1.06

Sept... 1.54

Now lets say he won those 3 games and pitched his usual 0-2 ER per game that would mean he would be 24-5 right now with at least 4-5 more starts remaining... Just unbeleivable.

When the Cy Young voters consider the candidates they should consider what Willis has done over the whole season and that is totally dominate the NL aside from 3 starts. Should his fate really be decided over 3 starts?
