August 24, 200323 yr I know its not wholly appropriate to do a minor league report during a slump, but maybe it will take our minds of the losing streak. **Recent draft pick, OF Jai Miller, has played his first 2 games...(6AB, 0H, 1BB)** -He skipped rookie ball...if he develops we have a nice crop of OF's...although Miller was a high schooler so he could be farther off. **LH starter David Marchbanks has continued to dominate after being promoted to low-Greensboro from short-season Jamestown. (3GS, 17IP, 16H, 1BB, 15K, 0HR) I'm EXTREMELY excited about this kid! I'm not sure of his stuff, but he seems like a POSSIBLE replacement for Big Red a few years down the line. Keep an eye on this one. **2B/3B Cole Seifrig is pounding the ball since being promoted to Jamestown from the rookie ball. He posted a .335 and .376 in rookie ball which is not impressive, but nice numbers for 2B. He was 11-14 in SB, but had a 10/44 BB/K ratio. Since being promoted....(7AB, 4H, 2 doubles, 1BB, 0K) Lets see what he can do in Jamestown. **1B Ryan Bear is one of our most promising hitting prospects in the lower levels posting a .370 .468 with 22/34 BB/K ratio. Hes also 13-15 in SB's leading me to believe he has nice range at 1B. (Jamestown) **C Ryan Blake is also getting some nice hacks in at Jamestown producing .385 and .539 with 7HR in 115ABs. Keep a watch for these names over the next year!
