Daniel Radcliffe, who portrays Harry Potter in the movies, is also starring in the upcoming, 'December Boys'. It's an Australian film about orphan children. Looks like it 'could' be good.

 

But here's the juicy part. 16 year old Radcliffe has an on screen kiss with 19 (almost 20) year old Teresa Palmer (who dates a popular Aussie football player)...

SHE dates one of South Australia's hearthrob football players, was recently chatted up by Leonardo DiCaprio at a Hollywood party, and this week Teresa Palmer will play the love interest of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe's character in a new Australian film.

 

"It's pretty awesome," she told The Australian from the home of her boyfriend, Port Power player Stuart Dew.

Palmer, 19, is among a group of local actors - including Christian Byers, Lee Cormie and James Fraser - who have been cast alongside Radcliffe in December Boys, a coming-of-age drama about a group of teenage orphans, which began filming in South Australia on Monday.

 

It is Radcliffe's first role outside the enormously popular teenage wizard series, including the latest - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - which opens nationally on December 1.

 

"It's really amazing that Daniel has been attached to the project because he's got so many fans around the world and they will be keen to see what he's like in a film outside the Harry Potter series," said Palmer.

 

While Palmer is excited about playing opposite the international teen star, she has already incurred the wrath of his female fans.

"I Googled myself the other day and there were all these comments about me on Harry Potter fan websites with girls saying: 'I hope she does really badly because I'm going to marry Daniel'," Palmer said, laughing.

Radcliffe, 16, who according to his new co-star is "a great guy, surprisingly mature, and really funny", begins filming December Boys this week, after a worldwide Goblet of Fire promotional tour which included the film's New York premiere at the weekend.

 

Of his role in the new Australian film, Radcliffe told the New York Post: "I don't want to jinx it, but I think it's fantastic."

 

Palmer describes the $6 million December Boys - which will also feature Jack Thompson as a retired naval officer who takes charge of the boys during their summer holiday - as similar to the popular 1986 American teen drama Stand By Me.

 

"It's a beautiful story about friends," she said.

 

"It's amazing, really sweet, one of those heartfelt films, everyone will have a tear in their eye."

 

December Boys will be shot on location around South Australia, including on Kangaroo Island, something Adelaide-born Palmer is excited about after spending most of the year away from home.

 

She has just returned from NSW where she appeared in the psychological thriller Guests, and recently spent time in Los Angeles, where she signed with the same management company that represents Meg Ryan, Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst.

 

"I'm so excited about everything right now. It sounds cliched but I really am living my dream," Palmer said.

 

Meanwhile, Harry Potter flew into Australia yesterday without his Nimbus 2000 broom, although he did perform an Evanesco!, or vanishing spell.

 

No screaming Muggles or sea of security awaited the star, who was in Sydney for a nanosecond before flying to South Australia to begin filming December Boys.

 

Harry, alias Daniel Radcliffe, was accompanied by his Dad, Alan.
