December 20, 200520 yr Explosion in Guilderland 12/19/2005 9:42 PM By: Capital News 9 web staff Fire crews are clearing the scene after an explosion in one of the factories at the Northeastern Industrial Park in Guilderland. Police aren't releasing too much information, and it is unknown if anyone was injured. It's about 03:45 and I just got back from a fire call I responded to at 19:20. A grain elevator in one of our industrial parks caught fire and exploded twice while we were trying to contain it. I was inside during the first explosion and was blown off my feet and tossed about 50 feet. One of the guys on the line with me was tossed down a flight of stairs and broke his arm and another went to the hospital for observation after a door was blown off its hinges and hit him in the back. All in all, we got pretty lucky. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. I hope this stuff doesn't always happen in threes.
