February 22, 200620 yr I heard Scoop Jackson last night and he brought up a good point, that Detroit may be wise to look into picking up Latrell Sprewell and having him add some firepower off the bench and to gain some needed depth for the playoffs. He is probably god for 12-14 points a game. spurs also have expressed mild interest in spree. and he has somewhat close ties to pop also. Really, that'd be ironic because the reason Scoop thought the Pisons should get him is to counteract the Spurs' depth. Sprewell is old, out of shape and hasn't been in the game for a long time. He is not good for 12-14 points a game. He'll only be playing like 10-12 minutes wherever he goes, if he's lucky. The guy is washed up and will only be picked up in case the team has an injury. He'll be the 8th or 9th man on any given team I think.
March 2, 200620 yr It's looking more and more evident that Darko just needed to play and that Detroit gave up on him way too easily. Last night: 26 minutes 12 points 9 rebounds 2 blocks 6/7 shooting Overall with the Magic: 19 minutes per game 6.8 ppg 4.8 rpg 2.2 blocks per game 65% shooting All of this without fully going through training camp and still adjusting to the team. He has also been hesitant with taking his shots. But he has been a great passer. He should have more assists but Dwight usually gets fouled when Darko get it to him. Also, the blocks per game are sick. At the least he is going to be a defensive presence for us. I wonder if he learned a thing or two from big Ben.
March 2, 200620 yr Author I have actually watched all but his first game with them and I have to say I am very impressed overall, especially with his skill set. For a big man, he has GREAT footwork and mobility. He has range on the jumper and has pretty form and the shot will only improve more with time. He has tremendously long arms for someone 7ft and that contributes to his ability to grab offensive rebounds when he is out of position and block shots with ease, even after he is beaten on a pump fake or move. I have to say the biggest knock I can say about him after watching though is on offense he prefers to hang on the perimeter setting picks and trying to get jumpers around the 3-point line and rarely ever tries to go inside. However, with that said he is still only 20-years-old and when he does make the rare post up attempt, his footwork, explosion and moves look awesome. He has tremendous potential and I could easily see him being a very dominant big man a few years down the road. Remember guys, he would only be a college sophomore if he was from the US. Congrats Magic fans, you have a bright future.
