I was just wondering, since P.R., D.R., Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico..... all of these major latin american countries get to play in the WBC, why isn't Nicaragua playing? Isn't beisbol the main sport there? Is it cause there isn't really enough major players? Or another big reason? By the way I'm not asking cause I think it's not fair to the country or anything..... I'm just seriously curious! So don't "internet" yell at me. If you happen to know why, Id just simply like to know. Thanks!

i've been wondering the same thing. nicaragua is better than china, chinese tipei, south africa, italy, and netherlands. way better. they play really well in amateur competition. always finishing top five. they beat the us in the last olympics.

I don't know if they're better than Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) or Italy, who dropped Australia nasty style today, but they probably should have been there. They were considered to replace Cuba when it was up in the air whether or not they were going to play.

 

It would have been easier to just say they didn't qualify :lol

they're better than taiwan and probably italy (considering most of the good players on the italian team are actually american). look it up... they've done quite well in international competition the last twenty years. like i said, they beat the americans in the 2004 olympics... doubt taiwan could have done that.

I've only seen Taiwan play three times and haven't seen Nicaragua play in two years, but the Taiwan team has some great pitching. Their problem is they haven't quite developed the offensive side of the game yet, but the defense and pitching is already getting up there to higher levels.
