ZEBULON, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Matt Padgett drove in all four runs to lead the Carolina Mudcats to a 4-1 victory over the Huntsville Stars in the decisive game of the Southern League Championship Series. Padgett, who led Carolina with 76 RBI during the regular season, snapped a scoreless tie with a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the fifth inning and added an RBI single in the seventh to account for the final margin. Jesus Medrano finished with three singles and a walk in four trips to the plate, scoring twice for the Mudcats, who rallied from a two games to one deficit to take home their first league title since 1995. Trevor Hutchinson (1-0) retired the first nine men he faced and finished with five innings pitched, allowing one run and just three hits to grab the win. Mike Flannery worked a scoreless ninth, recording the final out with two men on base, to earn his second save of the postseason. Corey Hart singled in the only run of the game for Huntsville, which left nine men on base, including three at third. Greg Bruso (1-1) surrendered three runs and six hits in five innings to suffer the loss.
