what good is a team physical

Featured Replies

When a player is traded he is supposed to go through a team physical. Tim Spooneybarger and Travis Bowyer are at the top of my list of players who the Marlins acquired that seemed to have problems before the Marlins acquired them. I dont understand how these type of ailments are missed.

A physical can't predict whether or not a player is going to injure himself. Somebody can't look at a pitchers arm on an mri or whatever they do and guarantee that they will have or not have damage to it in the future, it just gauges the damage at the time. But it ensure that a team isn't shipping a player who is curretnly injured without the other team finding out.

Plus we did a lot of trading, so you would expect some trades will back fire for us like how we totally kill the Cubs 2006 season. Pierre not having a good season with the cubs. Oh yeah look at our former 50M contract player that was sent to NYM. Delgado was a bomb to the Mets payroll with nothing to show for. Great way to even the high payroll team with the rest of us. :thumbup

Yea, Delgado is like what 4 for his last 55?

Salary bomb to the Mets payroll. I'm a strong believer it was Delgado contract that has destrpy the Marlins profits and I hope the Mets are next in his list.

Many times they're just a contingency to complete a deal. The teams don't allow for a full analysis or are crafted to not publicize a preexisting known injury or they may simply overlook any problems that may show up. They feel as though their talent advisors have done an adequate job of scouting the players traded. Scouts offer an assessment of not simply potential talent, but also body build, technique and comparables. Similar sources suggest the player's work out regime.
