CapeFish
Posted on Mon, Sep. 22, 2003 Marlins change Saturday gametime; playoff schedule announced By BARRY JACKSON [email protected] Fox has moved Saturday's Mets-at-Marlins game from 6 p.m. to 1 p.m. and will televise the game regionally, including on Channels 7 and 29 in South Florida. Meanwhile, Major League Baseball has set the dates for first-round playoff series. If the Marlins make the playoffs, they would play at San Francisco on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and Wednesday, Oct. 1. Game times have not been set, but 4 p.m. is one option under consideration. The series would shift to Pro Player Stadium for Game 3 on Friday, Oct. 3 (likely either 4 p.m. or 8 p.m.) and Game 4 on Saturday, Oct. 4, if needed (start time TBA). A fifth game, if needed, would be Sunday, Oct. 5 in San Francisco. Sean Flynn, the Marlins' vice president/marketing, said the team is projecting crowds of at least 20,000 for each of the three home games against Philadelphia this week. The Marlins will close out their promotional schedule by distributing 10,000 train whistles on Thursday, 10,000 posters of the Marlins' Latin players on Friday, and 10,000 duffel bags on Saturday. Marlins 2004 magnet schedules also will be distributed, and there will be other to-be-announced giveaways between innings during this weekend's series against the Mets. Marlins playoff tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. today. Prices range from $9 for upper deck seats to $55 for Founders Club seats behind home game. Tickets can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster or by ordering online at www.ticketmaster.com On the night the Marlins clinch a playoff berth, tickets would go on sale after that game at 17 windows at the Pro Player Stadium box office, and a postgame party would be held for fans at the Gate 6 tent.
