Frank Thomas sues his doctors

Recommended Posts

CHICAGO (AP) -- Oakland Athletics slugger Frank Thomas is suing two doctors, claiming their misdiagnosis of his broken foot led to further injury and his eventual departure from the Chicago White Sox.

Attorney Thomas Demetrio says the doctors diagnosed the break as a bruise in 2004 and cleared Thomas to continue playing, which led to a second broken bone in the foot last year. The attorney says the 280-pound player shouldn't have been walking on the foot, let alone playing baseball.

The lawsuit filed yesterday in Cook County alleges medical negligence but doesn't specify an amount Thomas is seeking in damages.

The lawsuit names two doctors for Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, an independent contractor hired by the Sox. A call to Midwest Orthopaedics went unanswered today.

The Sox declined to comment on Thomas' allegations.z
