Wild Card
The Astros' rotation is dubious beyond Wade Miller and Roy Oswalt, but they're the N.L. version of the White Sox, only with better defense. The Giants are likewise balanced but difficult to read. Their No. 2 starter, Sidney Ponson, never has pitched in the postseason. Their No. 3, Kirk Rueter, has been inconsistent since returning in late August from a shoulder strain. The team's bullpen is effective but not especially imposing. And its offense is only 10th in the N.L. in runs since the break. :shifty
