Jupiter Hammerheads (Florida Marlins)

THE WEEK THAT WAS: Jupiter played 2-3 baseball in its final week, wrapping up the second half with a 24-42 record that left the Hammerheads in last place in the FSL East. They finished in fifth place with a 31-38 record in the first half.

WHO'S HOT, WHO'S NOT: The Hammerheads went out with a thud. After winning three straight games Aug. 3-5, Jupiter wrapped up the season in a 5-18 free fall that included a handful of rainouts ... Although the Hammerheads were near the top of the FSL in pitching, they were a world apart from the rest of the league at the bottom in offense ... Right-hander Gabriel Hernandez, who finished among the league leaders, was a victim of his team's lack of punch and lost three of his last four starts ... Fifteen Jupiter batters struck out in a 4-3 loss to Brevard County on Monday.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Imagine what 3B Grant Psomas might have accomplished offensively if he'd had a capable cast of hitters around him. The infielder was the only Jupiter batter with an average above .260 (.294) when the team finished play on Friday. A 15th-round draft pick by the Mets in 2004, Psomas had eight homers and 53 RBIs in 92 games this season.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: RF Steve Gendron, who finished the season with a .223 batting average and 14 RBIs in 86 games, lined a two-out single to left-center in the bottom of the ninth to score Grant Psomas with the winning run in a 6-5 victory over Palm Beach in the final game of the regular season on Sunday. Gendron drove in one run in each of his last three games.
