ATLANTA ? (AP) ? Georgia Tech receiver Calvin Johnson announced Monday that he will enter the NFL draft, giving up his final college season for the chance to be one of the top players selected.

The decision was hardly a surprise. Johnson had long been expected to pass up his senior season with the Yellow Jackets, and he did little to change that perception during a brilliant junior season.

Johnson was named to The Associated Press All-America team and won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver.

"It was the logical thing to do,'' said his father, Calvin Johnson Sr. "He would have been doing himself a

disservice if he didn't go.''

In his final college game, the younger Johnson had catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-35 loss to West Virginia in the Gator Bowl. He finished with 76 receptions for 1,202 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Not much of a surprise but a lock to be in the top 10....hopefully that pushes Joe Thomas (i think that is his name) from Wisconsin closer to No. 9 for the Dolphins

I'll repeat this ad nauseum until the organization gets it: PICK A DAMN QB IN THE DRAFT ALREADY!!!!!!

Who's going to be available? Unless they give up a kidney, they won't have a shot at Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell. If someone doesn't snake him, that leaves Troy Smith. Is he an NFL franchise QB?? I don't know. What I do know is that you would be passing up a lot of NFL ready starters to take a chance on him.

Best QB on the board after that will probably be Stanton or Edwards. I will go out on a limb here and say that neither of them will be your franchise QB...

Finally, you had your chance when the Chargers released Drew Brees and you went with Culpepper instead. Savor that one for a while.
