So the idea Gonzalez floated months ago about dropping Hanley down in the lineup seems to have been scrapped. Also it looks like there will be a facial hair policy on the Marlins in 2007, though not as clear cut as last year.

New manager Fredi Gonzalez, responding to other questions, said he has a starting rotation in mind but that he wasn't ready to make it public.

He also said shortstop Hanley Ramirez, the reigning National League's Rookie of the Year, will bat leadoff this season, as he did most of last year.

Fans also wanted to know if Gonzalez planned to continue former manager Joe Girardi's policy of prohibiting players from wearing any facial hair.

"I'm going to (let) them have a little goatee, no beards but nice and trim,'' he said. "I know some of the guys are walking around here with beards. That'll be taken care of before spring training. If you see any of them, let them know.''

Some fans did just that, warning pitcher Sergio Mitre, who wore a thick Grizzly Adams beard.

"I haven't shaved since the season was over,'' Mitre said. "Guess I'll have to shave it.''

It's funny, depending on the factoid you can tell who went to what town meeting. That quote came from the 10:30 am TM.
