Posted February 12, 200718 yr MIAMI -- The Heat has made plans for its second coaching switch of the season, with Pat Riley to take over next week from interim replacement Ron Rothstein. According to a source familiar with Riley's plans, Rothstein will coach Tuesday night's home game against the Trail Blazers. Riley then is expected to announce his return at a Wednesday news conference at AmericanAirlines Arena. Riley stepped aside Jan. 3, to undergo knee surgery and a hip replacement, handing the reins to Rothstein. The Heat was 13-17 when Riley stepped aside, going 12-9 under Rothstein. Rothstein declined at Monday's practice to address Riley's status, saying Riley had yet to return to the practice court. "He's been around the office more," Rothstein said. "He's been working more. But, no, he has not been out here." There had been thought that Riley would wait until after Feb. 22-23 games in Houston and Dallas due to the travel. However he will undertake his first air travel since his surgeries during the All-Star break that begins Wednesday. That should have him back on the practice court at AmericanAirlines Arena next Monday. Rothstein said Riley has been involved with the direction of the team since beginning his hiatus. "Our contact has remained pretty consistent throughout," Rothstein said. Of his own plans for the All-Star break, Rothstein said, "My approach during the break is to relax as much as I possibly can." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-212...la-sports-front Great news!
