Starters of our future.

I know it is too early to think about our great arms in the minors (Volstad, Thompson, Hernandez etc: ) and when/if they are going to contribute to our pitching staff. But looks like we are going to have a good chunk of them ready around the same time.

Anyway who do you think is going to be in our pitching staff of the "future" (The pitchers that we keep for years and years.....)? So lets reduce some boredom... Name our "future" dominating starting pitchers.

We never really had 5 pretty good healthy arms in our rotation all at once - One is always on the DL or someone gets traded. We need a dominating rotation for years to come.

Boredom has taken over.

I'm not sure that any of the guys we in the system are going to be "dominant", I think most of them just project as pretty good pitchers. Chances are, their "readiness" will be determined by when they are needed from the ML team. None of them, besides Gaby, will likely see the majors this year, but when they do they will be brought up when one of our top guys go down.

There's so much that can go wrong between now and then and there's so much that can happen that it's impossible to predict, I mean at the start of 2003, I don't think anyone would have said that by 2007 we'd have a first baseman other than one of Adrian Gonzalez or Jason Stokes.

But since I'm sure my JJ/Olsen speculation in the game thread prompted this, the "perfect" five for 2009 just from our system likely would be: Willis, Olsen, Volstad, West, Sanchez

Well a bunch of arms are going to be traded in the next 12-18 months, especially with Mildren, Volstad, and Gaby ready by 2008. Not to mention we have 5 starters right now to go with JJ, and Jose Garcia as well.

Are you talking about our current starters (Such as Mitre/Nolasco) or minor league starters or both?

You really think Mildren will be ready next year?

Yes. Doesn't mean I think he will crack our starting rotation though.
