June 10, 200719 yr I'm surprised at how the AL has pounded the NL so far this season. I thought the NL had closed the gap but if anything it looks like the gap is growing. After today the AL will be up about 50-30.
June 10, 200719 yr nope the AL still rules, but these thing are cyclical....back in the 70s and 80s the NL ruled, and I mean really ruled so it will eventually turn back
June 12, 200719 yr Michael Kaye, not known for his brilliance, actually had a decent thought last night. He was talking about interleague play and proposed the following: Why do they play by AL rules at AL home games and NL rules at NL home games? Wouldn?t it be more fun to play by NL rules at AL home games and AL rules at NL home games? The theory is that this would expose fans who normally only have an opportunity to see one style of play [not EVERYONE has easy access to both NL and AL teams] to see how the other half lives. Bobby Murcer wasn?t a fan of the idea but I thought it made some sense. What do you think?

I mean, this is the sport that awards the league of the all-star-game winner homefield advantage for the championship...so, yeah, I can see it happening, and if interleague is here to stay, whatever.
June 12, 200719 yr Jack McKeon suggested that over two years ago. Get out! Did he steal that idea?! You have got to find me a link... :thumbup Regardless of who came up with it, I don't think it will happen. And that's too bad.

June 12, 200719 yr :notworthy I should have known better! I would love to send this in to YES. In fact, I think I'll do it now.
June 12, 200719 yr The only real Interleague series that means anything is the World Series. Outside of the Yankees multitude of Championships it has always been close. Interleague only gets big draws in NY, LA, Chicago, SF-Oak, and maybe the DC area. That is because these areas are either the same cities or at least share the same media outlets so fans there take it up to another level. Our State of Florida Interleague rivalry is weak. In fact, I had to argue with a manager at a sports bar last Friday to get our game on a big screen when two Florida teams were playing in the State of Florida. I understand I am not in SE Florida or the Tampa Bay area; however, there should still be enough local interest in Jax in this series. There is none. I hear the same is true in Texas and Ohio as well. Dump the Interleague series.
June 12, 200719 yr Jack's idea is a great one. I don't really have a problem with interleague per se, it's fun to see the other side from time to time (I find most all-AL games kinda boring). I also don't mind the 'rivalries' too much. It's always fun to have teams close to each in geography get to play regardless of league.
