Posted July 4, 200717 yr comment_915379 Is this guy for real? So far he's putting up impressive numbers in a batter's league. Any thoughts? Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/53457-daniel-barone/ Share on other sites
July 4, 200717 yr comment_915380 he's not going to be this dominant but he has 3 solid pitches in fastball, change, slider was outstanding in Boro last year, decent in Jupiter as well (although he was pitching in the pen some) Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/53457-daniel-barone/?&do=findComment&comment=915380 Share on other sites
July 4, 200717 yr comment_915381 saw him pitch twice last year in Gboro...Both times he was perfect through 6+ innings...this is what I said about him at the time. Barone went 8 2/3 giving up one run on two hits(I think). He struck out somewhere around 9. He had a perfect game through 7 and a 1/3 then walked a batter and gave a double. His fastball is 87-90 mph with a bunch of movement on it. His offspeed stuff is pretty nasty. He completely embarrassed some of those hitters and I mean they looked like high schoolers facing a major leaguer. It was that bad. The Intimidaters are pretty bad anyways. Barone was obviously tiring towards the end of the game. They started to hit the ball a lot better off of him. I imagine his pitch count was way up there as the reason why they pulled him after a walk in the 9th. I liked his stuff. Fastball wasn't at all overpowering, but he changed up speeds and his slider was dirty. Like Ramp said, he probably won't be this dominant but he's defintely a solid pitcher.
