RP in the minors?

Featured Replies

Just been wondering, who makes the decision on what pitchers get moved up and down???

I am sick of seeing the Starters pitching quality games, just to see a pitcher who has no business pitching blow the game. I know in the minors it does not matter if win or loss, its more about getting guys confidence and stuff up to par. But it does alot of damage to some of these guys-mentally.

Example- If you have 23 or 24 yr olds in Low A ball and they are pitching good move them up. There is no reason that a 28 or 29 yr old with a 6.00ERA in AA or A ball is gonna help the team. Move these guys up and LETS SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO!!

Rather see a 23 yr old get rocked a little and then show he is learning then a 30 yr old get rocked and say whatever I gotta look for a new club next year

I think Brian Chattin (Dir Player Dev) has alot of the say, atleast on the lower levels

who in particular are you hating on?

Not hating yet LOL

Just gets little weird for example instead of leaving Jeff Gogal in AA(even though he is having a few problems) they decide to move Ben Julianel down to AA for what reason beside that they need a Lefty in the pen.

There is no chance he helps the ML team in the future at least if u let Gogal stay up he can gain some experience and confidence

or

There are 3 or 4 decent RP in Greensboro who should and need to be moved up(, there are also a few old arms in Jamestown who could be moved up(Parcell,Alsup,Corey Madden even tho he got rocked early in the year) to replace them

Just was curious who runs the show in the lower levels

with Julianel, I think he is coming back off the DL recently and since they look to him to someday possibly be a LOOGY or even a setup man, they want him to see somewhat meaningful innings and right now that won't be the case in AAA

there's no reason to rush a prospect just because there is an older player above him struggling.... I mean neither Gogal or Julianel would be considered major league caliber prospects at this point anyway

with Parcell, Alsup, Madden.... they need innings anywhere at this point.... neither has pitched much professionally so if they have a post in Jamestown, there isn't much of a need to move them up... that and Madden got absolutely hammered in Greensboro this year, thus showing he ain't close to being ready to be moved up

you don't just move a pitcher up "because"... they need to earn it or if they have earned it, perhaps they are working on other things like new pitches or something like that and they have a better chance of success early with it against the much younger talent

I also think managers in the lower levels have some say as well

Ramp- who would you say is our top 3 relief prospects at any level...

I'll exclude Logan Kensing and Carlos Martinez...

soooo

in no particular order:

Harvey Garcia, Chris Mobley, Jacob Marceaux
