Posted October 6, 200717 yr Just throwing another name out there because we're going to be doing this for the next 6 months anyway Shannon Stewart. Yeah yeah yeah. But. He had the highest .RZR in the AL (.985), third in the majors (Byrnes, Holliday). He had the highest OOZ in the AL (42), fourth in the majors (Byrnes, Bay, Holliday). He had the highest +/- in all of baseball at the allstar break (+11), numbers not released for now. So by all of the highly touted fielding metrics, he was great. He put up a rather very average OBP (.345, MLB LF average .346) but a bad SLG (.394), giving him the second worst OPS out of qualified LFers. The biggest questionmark for him coming into the season was the injuries, his foot, his knees. He played in 146 games. The biggest thing? He wants to play here (Or atleast, wanted), but we didn't want him due to questions about his foot injury. Well, he showed he's healthy. So basically it's like the Cliff Floyd situation, except Shannon could fill in at center and probably healthier. The main question is, would he want to be a bench player (And with that line I doubt he'll get a starting job, so it's kinda a moot point), and how much of a discount would we get, if any (Or if he even still wants to player here after we rejeced him). He isn't worth 1m imo, if we're going to give 1y/1m to someone I'd much rather it be Floyd. But if he'll come in for 1y/0.5m? Would really help booster our bench. Yeah he's lost his power, but gotta love a guy who can come off the bench and get on base. I just really don't want the situation we had this year when Hermida and Ross went down.
