Posted November 12, 200717 yr The final ATP event of the season, the ATP Masters Shanghai is underway. An 8 man round robin tournament to determine the winner of the men's tennis season. Participants are the top 8 players in the ATP Points Race, not the ATP Rankings: RED GROUP: 1. Roger Federer 4. Nikolay Davydenko 5. Andy Roddick 7. Fernando Gonzalez GOLD GROUP: 2. Rafael Nadal 3. Novak Djokovic 6. David Ferrer 8. Richard Gasquet The stunner happened today as Chilean Fernando Gonzalez upset "The Mighty" Federer 6-3, 6-7, 7-5. Roddick beat Davydenko 3-6, 6-4, 2-6. It's a round robin, so the players are still in it. That's the third straight major tournament loss for Federer as Nalbandian beat him in the ATP Madrid, and ATP Paris, then Gonzo comes along to beat him in Shanghai. Federer's poison? Apparently South Americans. It's pretty cool how they did the Terracotta Warriors of all 8 participants
November 12, 200717 yr Author Im interested in this, where's the primary coverage of it? I don't think there is since in China, and live matches are basically useless for us. The final should be on, but I'm not toally sure on that either.
November 13, 200717 yr Author Fernando Gonzalez is playin unbelievably It's about damn time. He's been shaky since losing to Fed in the Australian Open final this year. VAMOS FER!!!!
November 13, 200717 yr Author Frenchman Richard Gasquet beats world no. 3 Novak Djokovic today, 6-4, 6-2. Rafa and Ferrer up next in an all Spanish battle.
November 13, 200717 yr Author David Ferrer seems to be Rafa's kryptonite, beating him today 6-4, 4-6, 3-6.
November 13, 200717 yr Author I'm confused. Is this like the playoffs of tennis? It's a round robin tournament where the top 8 players in the ATP Race are split into two groups. The winner of the tournament is the winner of the ATP Masters season.
November 16, 200717 yr Author Semi-final matchups: (1) Roger Federer v (2) Rafa Nadal (5) Andy Roddick v (6) David Ferrer
