March 16, 200818 yr I realized that I don't know that much about Andrew Miller's pitches. Does anybody know velocity/what he throws/ why we project him to be an ace? Thanks guys.
March 16, 200818 yr according to Baseball America's 07 prospect book he throws 93-95 with little effort, topping out at 98 mph on his fastball mid 80's sliders which already qualifies as a MLB ready out-pitch not much of a change up but a dialed down, low 80's 2-seam fastball
March 16, 200818 yr Miller mostly relies on his fastball. His two seamer is in the upper 80's, and he gets a lot of ground balls with this pitch. His four seamer is mostly in the low 90's, but I've seen him dial it up to 97-98 when needed. He did not show the same slider he had in college last year. It seems to have lost some of its bite, and his control of the pitch was awful. That really is his main problem - control. Hopefully the Marlins' pitching coach can iron out his delivery, so he is able to gain better control. He needs to develop a changeup, or another third pitch as well.
