October 29, 200323 yr the team with the weaker bullpen won every series with the exception of the ALCS
October 29, 200323 yr well everyone thinks that the marlins bullpen isn't so good-but i would give them the adavantage-especially vs the yanks-even though i know that the yanks have alot of very good pitchers-i knew we could beat them-and i knew that our bullpen would do better-so i guess maybe thats only correct acc. to the media...-people who just go with the more pop. and the more known.
October 29, 200323 yr Author They did have the worst bullpen era other than the Red Sox and they play in a major pitchers park
October 29, 200323 yr they played in chicago-a long series-with the wind mostly blowing out... they played alot of offensive teams-they gave up runs but they came back also.
October 29, 200323 yr Author I was just pointing out how little affect the bullpens had this year while last year the team with the better bullpen won every series except for one
October 30, 200323 yr teams are concentrating more on hitting-what hap. to all the pitching? defense should be more important!
October 30, 200323 yr Author the team with the better defense only won 4 of the 7 series. Take away you guys and the better defense is 1-3
October 30, 200323 yr we were the only example that defense is more important-and every team was mostly based on offense-there are barely any defense based teams.
October 30, 200323 yr Author this year, you guys won with your defense Last year, the angels won with their smallball and their bullpen 2001 the D-backs won with their rotation, as did the 95 braves the 96 and 98-2000 yankees won because of their depth in everything, as did the 97 marlins
October 30, 200323 yr we had great defense-but the cubs scored alot of runs off us-we were great vs the yanks and so-so with the giants.
October 30, 200323 yr Author I'm still pissed off that the Giants played their worst all year in the postseason
October 30, 200323 yr Author true, but the Giants weren't playing like there usual selfs. When the series is lost because of the defense of a guy that should win the gold glove, you know there's something wrong. The team batting average was so much lower. Besides Schmidt and Alfonzo, everybody was worse than they usually are in every single way. You guys deserved it because you wanted it more.
October 30, 200323 yr even if u guys would have been on top of ur game-i think the marlins still would have won.
October 30, 200323 yr Author not really. The series is lost because of a bad catch (game 3) and two bad throws (game 3 and 4) by arguably the best defensive RFer in the game. When Jose Cruz is at his normal, he catches the ball easily. When Jose Cruz is at his normal he throws out the go ahead run and maybe even the tying run in game 3. When Jose Cruz is at his normal he throws out the first run easily in game 4. To top it all off, the rest of the team played worst than their usual selves except for Schmidt and Alfonzo
October 30, 200323 yr the way the marlins were playing-they would have thought of another way 2 score if it wasnt for those bad throws-they were gonna lose 2 the cubs but they found a way-they just didnt want 2 lose.
October 30, 200323 yr Author Maybe, but you have to consider the Marlins were playing at their bests and the Giants were playing at the worst. The Giants had a great year and then threw it all away. Even Alou f***ed up

Despite the opinions of some White Sox fans on this board with an axe to grind, I don't think the Cubs wanted to lose either. God wanted them to lose, not the Cubs themselves.
October 30, 200323 yr actually, our bullpen was superior in every series. you're forgetting the fact that we heavily relied on starters in our bullpen

Dusty Baker wanted the CUbs to lose as well
