February 23, 200917 yr Ive been reading these boards for a while now, but dont really post a lot. Im a South Floridian that just recently moved to Europe. Im a typical South Florida sports fan. TOPS on my list is the Panthers, but I love the Heat, Marlins, and Fins as much as any other die hard fan. Dont rag on me, but I grew up a Met fan since I was born in NY, but those colors ran out when I moved down south and the Marlins were formed. Well, thats my story. My take on the fish...I think the NL is in for a big surprise from us. We are not bad at all, as some might make us out to be. As long as we can get the suport of the bullpen, and stay relatively healthy, we are going to compete for at least the Wild Card this season. Our rotation is young and some are coming off injuries/surgeries, but they have the talent to be as good as any teams rotation in the league. Its going to take veteran performances from our youth to get this team far, and I think we have the talent and coaching to get it done. I think we have a great hitting lineup, with more speed that last year, less Ks, and centered around the best player in the NL. While we will probably see our lineup hit less HRs than last season, I think 1-7 is going to be a problem for teams on most nights. Im excited to see what Ross can do while playing more of a starters role as well. My only concern is the team's lack of concentration from time to time, which resulted in a lot of uncalled for errors. The defense is what I want to see improve the most from the team. If we can pick up that defense and keep most of our lineup and pitching staff off the DL, there is no reason for us not to contend for the WC or division come September.
