November 13, 200322 yr The Dodgers are looking for a new first baseman (almost a new everything, offensively). They are supposedly talking to the Yankees about Nick Johnson. The deal being reported is Mota/Perez for Johnson. Why not Lee? Johnson is younger, cheaper (for now), gets on base more often, and plays solid defense. But I think Lee has more to offer you. Derrek is only 2 years older, the Dodgers would probably lock him up at around $7 Mill a year for 3-4 years, he gets on base more than enough, plays GG defense, and can steal some bags. Don't forget, alomost all of his numbers could go up significantly in a new park, despite the fact Dodger Stadium is a pitchers park. Mota and Perez sounds pretty damn good to me, even though we don't need another starter, you can never have enough good pitching. If Beinfest could pull something like this off (and never underestimate him, if he wants to he will), we'd be amazing next year. Thoughts?
November 13, 200322 yr We might have 6 starters, but Odalis Perez is a talent you make space for. He is a damn good lefty and will get even better.

Well, if you're the Dodgers GM, IMO you have to deal him. They have enough pitching that they can easily get by after dealing him away for some much needed offense. And Perez would bounce back from an off year in '03 like that *snaps fingers* in Pro Player. Mota would be the real prize of the deal, though.
November 13, 200322 yr A Lefty to Replace a Redman who can be Dealt. Add a Great Reliever (Just dont pitch him against Piazza in Spring Training ) And you Have Conine Replace Lee... :thumbup Again this is all speculation
