The Cardinals have offered Matt Holliday a deal which would pay him $16MM per year for at least eight seasons, writes Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

There's no way he can turn down a deal like that

8 years i a long freakin contract. he would be crazy to turn down 8/$128. this is going to kill the cardinals financially if holliday starts regressing like alfonso soriano has after signing an 8 year deal.

8 years is too long I think. Won't be much motivation to keep playing at such a high level as is the case for a lot of players with long term security.
