The offense broke out early on, scoring seven of their runs in the first 3 innings, and combining for as many runs as their last four games combined. Gaby Sanchez put the Marlins on the board with a two RBI double off the right field wall. Josh Kroeger topped off the 3 run first with an RBI single. In the second inning, Dewayne Wise hit a two run home run, and in the third inning Matt Dominguez scored two with a solid line drive double. In the sixth inning, Ruben Gotay scored on an Emilio Bonifacio single. Bonifacio later scored on a single by Gaby Sanchez. The Marlins finished off the rout in the 8th with an RBI single by John Raynor and an RBI groundout by Tim Torres. Anibal Sanchez looked very sharp in his second Grapefruit League start, locating his pitches extremely well and showing great poise on the mound. He went three innings, giving up one hit and striking out three. Other pitchers who saw action in today’s game include recent signing Shawn Hill, Adalberto Mendez, Victor Garate, and Steve Cishek. The Marlins play tomorrow against the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:05 pm. Chris Volstad is scheduled to start.
