November 24, 200322 yr As a long suffering Red Sox fan who once again is in hibernation after a tragic end to a baseball season that ended with a Marlins victory, I wonder how So Florida baseball fans feel about your former owner John Henry who now owns the show in Boston. Henry has been well received here (but after John Harrington, Saddam would have been too) but we have heard he is despised in South Florida. Henry blames one person for that, Hank Goldberg who Henry says had no reason he knows of for it. I bring this up, because Peter Gammons was talking at Harvard last week that the RICO case involving Loria, Selig concerning the transfer with the Expos could get ugly and soon. There is a chance that the courts may send Loria back to Montreal and Henry back to Miami and throw the rigged sale of the Red Sox into court as well. MLB is terrified of this case because they can not explain how Loria's partners in Montreal suddenly wound up with part ownership of the Marlins. I saw first hand how bad Loria and his stepson did everything they could to destroy baseball in Montreal and I am sure Selig thought they could do the same thing in Miami. People in Portland, Maine where the Marlins had their AA club loved John Henry and jumped when they could become a Sox farm team. We have seen nothing in 2 years to indicate he is a bad owner but now how is he looked at there, and how is Loria received? BTW we watched you win the Series in NY with bittersweet emotions knowing that we should have won the ALCS until Grady Little choked in Game 7. Sox fans believe we would have beaten the Marlins but we will never know. I can't take away anything your team did, especially the comeback against the Cubs on the road. I hope you get the ballpark you need and that South Florida will finally support baseball. I think there is hope there unlike St Pete/Tampa which IMHO will never support the game. I just wish we would have had the chance to play you, it would have been fun.
