December 1, 200322 yr Yes this is a Cabs at SS post. I never thought I'd say it or suggest it but here I am doing just that. I'm convinced he's obsessed with playing SS like his mother. Since the kid is the best non-pitching prospect we've had in the history of the franchise, I say if he wants to play SS, give him a chance. Which of course brings me to the subject at hand, anyone remember Sea Bass playing 2B? Or does anyone think he could make the transition? For some reason, and I could be wrong, I thought he played a few games there. I expect Luis is not here in 2004. Cabs deserves to see, if for no one else except himself if he can play his position of choice in MLB or not. I for one am willing to give him the chance. In the alternative regarding Gonzo, perhaps he becomes trade bait and his salary contributes to signing a run-producing 2B guy. We can be a better team in 2004 if the team (meaning Admin Beinfest/Jack McKeon) thinks out of the box.
December 1, 200322 yr i was under the impression that cabs would not be comfortable playing SS. it was thrown around a little bit during the postseason that he could perhaps replace sea bass at SS, but cabs said something to the effect of: "i am more comfortable at third base. it is more natural to me." i know he used to play SS, but i'm almost positive he said something to that effect during the postseason.
