December 7, 200322 yr In case anyone cares the Padres resigned Rod Beck to a one year deal. Here are the details from Rotoworld.com Padres re-signed RHP Rod Beck to a one-year, $1.85 million contract with an option for 2005. Beck will make $1.75 million in 2005. The option year is also worth $1.75 million and contains a $100,000 buyout. Also, Beck can make an additional $1 million per season if he closes, which would only happen if Trevor Hoffman gets hurt. The Padres probably overpaid here by half a million dollars, but they really wanted Beck back after he went 20-for-20 in save opps last season. I was surprised he went 20 for 20 in save opportunitys. He would have been a nice signee if we cant get Uggy or Looper back.
