Marlinsbabe21
Dealing strengths: Sometime before June, Burnett is expected to rejoin the rotation after undergoing Tommy John surgery in early May. That gives the Marlins a surplus of proven starters. Most likely to be dealt is arbitration-eligible left-hander Mark Redman, who tied for the team high with 14 wins. The Marlins dealt several key minor leaguers during the season to obtain Urbina and outfielder Jeff Conine. So the depth to deal at the minor league level isn't what it was. However, the minor league system has some quality players that could be used as trade bait, if need be. Joe Frisaro is a reporter for MLB.com. jonnylons
Redman is a quality MAJOR leaguer who could net some serious interest as the season goes on - should we not deal him this winter. Once Burnett comes back, we could flip Redman to another team to fill a position of need - or even to obtain some solid prospects. Who knows... geemoney
Who do you guys think we could get more for in a trade: Redman or Pavano? I'd like to see us hang on to Pavano, but if a better deal comes along for him than Redman, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Marlins take it. Hypothetically speaking, of course. jonnylons
I dont think the Marlins really want to part with Pavano just yet. The guy is more promising in some ways than Redman. But you got to like Redman, at one point last season you could argue for him being the #1 starter on our staff. His playoff performance dropped his value some, but it shouldnt matter in the long term. If he is dealt, it would be best for him to go to an AL team (he cant hit).
