December 23, 200322 yr IMHO, here's our only shot at Vlad: he decides to take the tactic that Millwood took this year, and which Pudge took last year, which is accepting a big-money, one-year deal in the hopes of riding out this slow marketplace and cashing in big next year. if he came to the Marlins right now, and said "if you can scrounge up $18 million dollars for me to play one year in Miami", do you guys think they would be able to do it? Because to my mind, that's the only way it could possibly work out.

My estimation would be anywhere between 12-14 million for one year.
December 23, 200322 yr Author we dont have 18 or 14 mill to give him for a 1 year deal we have 8 mill right now and still have to pay more players
December 23, 200322 yr we dont have 18 or 14 mill to give him for a 1 year deal we have 8 mill right now and still have to pay more players Vlad won't get $18 million. No one wants to sign him to a "A-Rod type deal." Maximum he'll get is around $11-$14 million per year for 3-5 years.
