Redskins reach deal with Brunell

Tribune news services

February 20, 2004

Jacksonville quarterback Mark Brunell agreed to a seven-year, $43 million deal with the Washington Redskins late Thursday, clearing the way for a trade next month. Brunell will receive an $8.6 million signing bonus, according to agent Leigh Steinberg.

- Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, 29, who led the Florida Gators to their only national championship in 1996, says his on-again, off-again career as a pro quarterback is over. The Redskins cut him before last season and he refused a midseason offer to rejoin the team. He played for the Bears in 2001.
