  1. Last game, I sat on the front row in the isle right on top of the visiting bullpen. The usher didn't know anything about either the team or the stadium situation. All he wanted was for the game to be over so that he can go home. They couldn't care less--they are basically rent-a-cops.
  2. This article was very interesting. Everyone is reporting how the stadium is going to be built and that they have all the money and that Robaina has stated that it will be done this month, etc. This new article says that they absolutely need state money.
  3. I listened to the whole thing. I am a big supporter, so please take this as me trying to tell you exactly what happened. He came on and talked first about the tax rebate and what a shame it was because it was the first time that it passed the senate. He said that all of the representatives from South Florida should be commended for their efforts and also people who he can't name. He wanted to thank them publically. He said that he had hoped that he would be able to report something by today, but he said that he was not. He said that he is still hopeful that this month will be the month (not a definite, just hoping that it was). He said that there are many options that are available to get the stadium deal done. The tax rebate was one of them. Since they don't have it, they will have to pursue other options. Maybe if they start building, next year or in the two years that follow they may be able to get the rebate. He never said that this month will be THE month. He was just hoping that they can get it done this month. He also spoke very generally about weather they needed the rebate. Clearly, it would help minimize in the amount of property taxes they have to kick into the project. He never got into any specifics. He was merely saying that he is positive. Remember that he is a politician. What nobody has been able to answer is if Codina will indeed give them the land. Secondly, if the city of Hialeah and the county have talked about property tax shares going into the project, etc. Basically, he said nothing that you dind't know before the call. I was actually pissed that I sat there for 45 minutes waiting for that NOTHING.
  4. I think that Jerry is doing a great job. I have heard the show as a result of this and Capefish's blog. The thing of it is that sometimes his reports are overly optimistic. For example, I did not glean anywhere near the positive news that were reported in these sites from the last appearance by the Mayor. I thought he was positive, but overly general to make any judgements. I also thought that the conversation was pretty much about how he was working on it and that he was supportive of it. What I still wonder is about the land. Codina has never said that he would donate the land. I assume that there may have been some back door meetings that the land would be donated in exchange for helping him get the UDB moved. Either way, I think that every single person in this board should be writing their representatives and senators. We need to turns this into an election issue for this area. Also, write King, Lee, and Fasano and voice your displeasure with their antics. I am so furious about their little maneuverings. I am sure thay were supportive of "coorporate welfare" for the stadiums in Jax and Tampa.
