If Marlins Stadium is anything like PETCO...
Yeah, I read that too before I went, which is why I was surprised when I didn't see that stuff, but I stayed on the lower levels, so it may have been on the upper concourse, although that's kinda strange since the more expensive seats (the lower ones) only had a blackened chicken sandwhich as the most exotic menu item. They did have BBQ in the back near the beach area. Oh well, I'll have to make another visit just to find out. Either way, the stadium is great. I hope ours is like it or better.

Hmmm...you may be right. Rubio's has some of the best fish tacos out here, and I did hear someone saying that Rubios was at the stadium, but I guess it was on the upper levels. I didn't see it and I didn't see anyone eating them. Damn, wish I would've known.

Trust me...since I've been living here that's the one thing I've grown to love. I woulda gotten them at the game if I saw them, but I didn't see any. I've been out of Miami for almost a year now...we didn't have any good fish tacos did we? At Sandbar in the Grove maybe? That's all I can think of. But I'll be back for the UM/FSU game and the Cubs/Marlins games, so I'll keep my eyes open. But I saw no fish tacos in SD.

You sure? I didn't see any on any of the concourse menus. Maybe they're only available at one of the restaurants?

If Marlins Stadium is anything like PETCO...
...then it'll freakin rock! I'm living in LA now, so I was lucky enough to go to all 3 Dodgers/Marlins game, plus 1 of the games in SD (the one we won on Sat. night). A buddy of mine works for the team. Anyway, PETCO is a great stadium. The Marlins should definitely take notes... The sandstone brick color is really nice...it works for a beach city team. I really liked the fact that the hallways are held up by pillers, meaning that there's no wall separating the seats from the concessions. So you could essentially watch the game while you wait for food. It also allows for a nice air flow, which would be great in Miami. Also, because of this, PETCO allows for standing room only behind practically EVERY seating section. So you can buy a $5 park pass, allowing anyone to come in and wander around the stadium, then they can just stand in any section and watch the game. This also gives people access to the "beach" area in the back, with sand and a giant hill anyone can sit on and watch the game from a big screen. They also have "the Park at the Park" which is a baseball diamond kids can play on while the game is actually going on. It doesn't take up seat room or anything, it's technically behind the seats so it doesn't interfere and it allows for the park to be filled with people. PETCO didn't really have any signature food item. Apparently the old stadium had good mexican (San Diego is about 5 miles from Mexico), but this one really doesn't have much. They might have a "sand"which or something like that. I also like how this Park Pass gives you access to pretty much any level you want access too. I was also at Dodger Stadium this week, and you can only enter the level you're sitting on. So if you're in the outfield there's a specific outfield enterance. If you're on the upper deck, you can only get there. Great baseball stadium, but it's not so fan-friendly. But PETCO really is. It's also beautifully done on the outside. Lots of palm trees, a waterfall step structure which is really nice. The old Marlins Stadium drawings looked great too, so hopefully we'll still keep it like that or make it better. The info they're released so far sounds great. Can't wait to see the HOK plans.

Hi from Los Angeles
Not bad...should be nice. I just still love that Bicentennial Park area. Think about it...we could have "McKeon Cove."

Hi from Los Angeles
There's room for that? Are they tearing down the apartment housing around it? Doesn't seem like there's that much space around the OB for another stadium AND a sports complex, but maybe there is.

Hi from Los Angeles
Well the cheaper part is a definite... But the OB and Bicentennial property aren't far from each other. Both are pretty central. Both have easy access to I-95. And both allow for people not using I-95 to get their using regular streets (Biscayne, Brickell, etc.) As for the crowds, well yeah, the OB area is used to crowds of 80,000+ but the Bicentennial area should be just as used to AAArena crowds, not to mention Bayside crowds, cruise port onlookers, and the downtown crowd. And astecially (sp?) the property near the water is MUCH nicer than the OB area. Unless there is some plan to beautify the OB area, it seems to me that in 10 years it'd be just another stadium. Just my 2 cents, but I'd go to watch them play anywhere...

Hi from Los Angeles
Good point...they must be raking in the dough on a piece of land that houses that crappy Halloween carnival once a year. It's perfect for what the Marlins need...and they can still have their museums and shopping malls, parks, yada yada all around the stadiums...almost like a bridge between AAArean and the Marlins park. One can dream, right?

Hi from Los Angeles
Hi all. Just found this site today. First time viewer, first time poster. I'm writing to all of ya from LA. I moved here about 9 months ago. But I grew up and went to college in Miami (GO CANES!) so obviously I'm still a fish fan. I got the baseball package and all. This week a buddy of mine who works for the Fish is in town, so I get to see the Marlins vs. Dodgers for the whole series, and I'm driving to SD for a Fish vs. Padres game too. Anyway, maybe it's just me, but I thought that original new stadium plan was killer. I know the city won't part with it, but that Bicentennial Park property is ideal for us. It'd give us a "splash area" and it'd be right near the AAArena, cruise port, etc. As much as I love the OB, and trust me, I'll settle if the Fish have to play next to it, I still can't figure out why the city won't part with the Bicentennial Park area. Anyone know why? This place looks like it'll be my new home. Nice meeting all of ya. Back to work, I guess...
