Hi i'm catholic as well. I was in a similar situation about a year ago and once I accepted God and got to know him personally my faith grew to a much higher level. I truely care and strive for the beliefs which I was fairly indifferent to before. As a catholic there's a few things that I'll recommend that will help you grow in your relationship with God. Read the bible, it is God's word and through it we not only learn how to live our lives as God wants us to, but also get to know what God is like and how he feels for us. I suggest starting with some New Testament books first since that is all of Jesus's teachings and then go back through the OT. 2nd, appreciate the sacraments...we have some beautiful sacraments and privileges that you have access to , those are confession, recieving the Eucharist at mass, praying the rosary/divine mercy chaplet/novenas, and Adoration. Confession will take the weight of sin from your shoulders and give you a fresh clean slate. Going at least once per month will help you greatly. There is nothing to be ashamed of and Jesus will ALWAYS forgive if the confession is honest, even if you make the same mistakes over and over and over again. The eucharist IS the body and blood of christ. His presence is real within it, there are times after I've recieved the eucharist where I have cried in happiness because of God's beautiful presence. Recieving this gives us graces like confession to help us against sin. If you realize this you start to realize how important going to mass is. I recommend taking up praying the rosary at least once per day. There is a saying: "To Jesus through Mary" This is a short bit of info on the rosary and a guide to praying it. http://tomsdomain.com/rosary/ A rosary takes about 20 minutes to get through, which isn't very long out of the day. Throughout it try to focus on Christ's mysteries and be sincere in the words of the prayers. There's also the divine mercy chaplet and novenas which are well known prayers in the catholic faith, but I suggest focusing on the rosary for now. Adoration, if your parish offers it, is sitting in the presence of Jesus for an hour or so and either praying, talking with him or just sit there to keep him company. It's one of the most peaceful things and it's helped me feel better a few times after having a bad day. This is a catholic forum I go to located on a site for all christians. There are VERY knowledgeable catholics on this forum and we welcome questions about the faith anytime. If you would like to read or learn more deeply about our church I suggest going here. The community is also very friendly and sincere. My username on the forums is the same as here. http://www.christianforums.com/f26-one-bre...y-catholic.html Good luck, you're on the right path
