i need real good advice here..dont give me this simple crap. I am a catholic and i believe in god and christ and etc.

i love god. i dont go to church much and i take the name of lord in vain alot and question him alot. i ask alot like are u real? why dont u show urself? or why dont u give me a sign? i want to be a better person and i cant be cause he pisses me off with this suffering i feel.

i thank him for all he has done but i just get so mad at him that i curse at him and stuff. I dont know what to do about the "father"

HOW DO ANY OF YOU KNOW HE IS THERE...GIVE ME SOME ADVICE HOW TO BE BETTER.

Hello,

You are not the only one who has to deal with these issues. Don't worry, God still loves you and wants you to be close to him. So let's help you out a little.

In order to grow closer to God you must nourish your faith. You've already taken a big step in admitting your weaknesses and asking for help. Nourishing your faith includes more than just going to church, anyone can do that. You have to be willing to say to God: "Lord, I've seen what the world has to offer and I find no value in it. God, as it is written in your Word, you are the only thing that can bring me real rest." and you have to mean it.

You see, searching for God and willing to change for Him is the hardest part of this, but once you achieve it, your life will be easier than ever before! Take that from me, I was a false Christian for nearly half my life, and it sucked.

Another step is that you must realize WHY God is not to blame for your problems. God isn't a deity that sits in the clouds deciding who's day He's going to make miserable. You see, it's people like you and me that are screwing this world, because we have a hard time resisting sin. If it wasn't for the pain we humans have brought on ourselves, then we would be living in a perfect world with God and His true intention for us. You see, God wants us to have everything He intended us to have: eternal life, wealth, and power with which we can govern according to His Law. But we can't get these until we have solved our own problems and stopped blaming God for it. Again however, you MUST have FAITH that He will help, otherwise you won't find it. After all, you can't find something if you question it's existence. God is real, take it from a person who has seen His miracles.

Let's continue with an easy one: taking the Lord's name in vain. I did this for a long time and I can tell you it is one of the easier ones to break. Just make a hard effort to catch yourself everytime you do it, and reprimand yourself whenever you do. After a little while, you will eventually be able to prevent yourself from ever saying it.

I used to question God a lot too. One day, however, I realized that I'm just a man, and a young one at that. I mean, what do I know about the world when I'm a mortal complaining to the one who created it? God knows this world like the back of His hand, and His intentions are always good.

As one of my brothers once told me when God puts us through a tough situation with your faith life, it's because He wants to mold you into something else. Haven't you ever been through other bad times to later realize that they helped you out a lot? Just think, God loves you enough that He thinks you are worthy of a test from Him! It means you have great potential to be a warrior for Him.

Trust me, if you give whatever troubles you have to Jesus Christ, He will rid you of them. You just have to be patient for His reply. You can call on Him at your desire, and He will hear you.

The most important and first thing you must realize is that religion is faith-based, period. You'll have a hard time proving the existence of God with facts.

Second, we all suffer. Earth is not heaven. If God made it so, what would life be for?

I have been through years of faithlessness, and have returned to believing in Jesus Christ. I hope that you find and keep a strong faith.

im trying to keep the faith but its so hard..i mean i beat myself about it literally.

i want him to kill me and then show me what to do and then let me be where i was when he took me...like a glimpse. i try to be a good person that my parents mess it up some how by doing or saying somthing and i get all mad...i agree about how to stop saying his vain in name..but the thing is i dont want to do anything like that. i dont want to go to church and be good cuz im scared of the world and how crappy it is..why did he make us like this. another thing is i know that god is not to blame it is me but i cannot blame myself, its like a reaction.. i feel like he takes a break on my life and let satan do his job..thats why im always so negative to people and hurt myself.

now what do i do.

Like I said before, stop blaming God for all your issues. God ONLY LETS SATAN ATTACK YOU WHEN HE KNOWS YOU CAN GROW FROM IT.

Again, God didn't make humans this way; we did. What we've done to the world God had to fix by dying on a cross for us.

Do not be afraid to go to church and to do good. The world you hate so much can be made better by those who are willing to do good.

Fishfan, if you have a bible, these three books will answer all your questions:

John

Romans

Corinthians

Read these books in the bible for yourself and find the answers you need. Remember, these books are the Word of God, who died on the cross and went to hell for 3 days to save YOU.

I always kind of looked a suffering as, a way to build character. Without suffering, we will never know our true self. We will never succeed, nor know his presence if we were never to suffer. Not only that, we wouldn't have a purpose here without struggle.

It may seem that other people have it better than you, and that you have a ton of s*** on your plate, but in due time it will come clean and you won't have that struggle because you indured and with faith in Him you over came that obsticle. You can't just blame him for the crappy times in your life, you got to look at it as if you can overcome what the barrier is in front of you. If you do what is right, and have faith He'll make his presence known and help you out in one way or another. He's helped me out plenty of times.

My grandma had hell with her man of 16 years. She was abused, raped, and everything else that you could imagine. She spent most of her early life as a sharecropper picking cotton and only making about $3.00 a She had to move to California from Arkansas all she had was $3.00 in her purse, and one pair of underwear. She had to leave her 7 children behind for 5 months so that she could get them a home. She had very little schooling too, yet she overcame all that was in her way. She made it better for her kids, and she's an absolutely extrodinary person. She grew up hard and had a hard life, but not once did she lose faith in God.

So you see, struggle is going to be there in your life, but you need to have faith and work through it in order to succeed. He makes his presence known, you just have to really look to see it. He's always with you. You just have to believe, and don't lose faith.

thank you man...hopefully i find the faith that i desire to have.

"Ask, and it will be given to you, knock, and it shall be opened for you"

"Blessed are those who hunger for righteousness, for they will be filled."

-Jesus Christ

If you really want those answers, God will allow you to find them. Read His Word, especially those three books of the Bible I listed.

I will pray for you. Best of luck.

thanks man and hey if u got a shot lets talk in the PM section in the near future.

Hi i'm catholic as well. :D I was in a similar situation about a year ago and once I accepted God and got to know him personally my faith grew to a much higher level. I truely care and strive for the beliefs which I was fairly indifferent to before. As a catholic there's a few things that I'll recommend that will help you grow in your relationship with God. Read the bible, it is God's word and through it we not only learn how to live our lives as God wants us to, but also get to know what God is like and how he feels for us. I suggest starting with some New Testament books first since that is all of Jesus's teachings and then go back through the OT.

2nd, appreciate the sacraments...we have some beautiful sacraments and privileges that you have access to , those are confession, recieving the Eucharist at mass, praying the rosary/divine mercy chaplet/novenas, and Adoration. Confession will take the weight of sin from your shoulders and give you a fresh clean slate. Going at least once per month will help you greatly. There is nothing to be ashamed of and Jesus will ALWAYS forgive if the confession is honest, even if you make the same mistakes over and over and over again. The eucharist IS the body and blood of christ. His presence is real within it, there are times after I've recieved the eucharist where I have cried in happiness because of God's beautiful presence. Recieving this gives us graces like confession to help us against sin. If you realize this you start to realize how important going to mass is. I recommend taking up praying the rosary at least once per day. There is a saying: "To Jesus through Mary" This is a short bit of info on the rosary and a guide to praying it. http://tomsdomain.com/rosary/

A rosary takes about 20 minutes to get through, which isn't very long out of the day. Throughout it try to focus on Christ's mysteries and be sincere in the words of the prayers. There's also the divine mercy chaplet and novenas which are well known prayers in the catholic faith, but I suggest focusing on the rosary for now. Adoration, if your parish offers it, is sitting in the presence of Jesus for an hour or so and either praying, talking with him or just sit there to keep him company. It's one of the most peaceful things and it's helped me feel better a few times after having a bad day.

This is a catholic forum I go to located on a site for all christians. There are VERY knowledgeable catholics on this forum and we welcome questions about the faith anytime. If you would like to read or learn more deeply about our church I suggest going here. The community is also very friendly and sincere. My username on the forums is the same as here.

Good luck, you're on the right path :D

Fishfan, being a Christian does not mean our life is going to be easier, if anything it may be harder because Satan recognizes who we belong to and wants to make us feel bad about everything we do. Not to mention, Satan is afraid of the potential we have as Christians in reaching others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So it when we realize who we are as Christians that Satan fears our potential. If we sit back and do nothing to share our faith with others, then there is nothing for him to be afraid of.

Jesus told us that this world is not our home and is for a short time or "vapor" whereas eternity is forever. We, as Christians, are not of this world....we are but travelers on our way home and along the way we try to help others, and carry out our Father's plans here on Earth.

When I first came to Christ nearly 10yrs ago...I was a partyer, drinking alcohol, into some carnal stuff...but Christ helped me clean up....we do not clean up because the Bible tells us it is wrong, but from our love for Him, we want to clean ourselves to be more like Him. My first endeavor as a Christian, was to read the bible - I digested the New Testament within a month and more eyes were wide open as to what his plans are for us. But getting His word into our systems is the best advice to changing or repenting of our sins. Praying to seek his will and guidance also helps. Although I am not a Catholic...my wife was and I have been in Catholic churches, I find that there really is more ritual than learning....the only portion of Bible that is taught is during the hominy which is just not enough for me. Attending a good church grounded in his word is a good start...and remember Faith is the evidence of things not seen....we have to believe before we see his presence...God Bless....Merry Christmas

I commend the members of the this board for being very civil in this post and allowing people to express their faith freely wihtout being critsized. God bless you all. Merry Christmas

You have to remember, not everything in your life is going to be good. If your playstation freezes as mine has a fondness for doing, God didn't zap it and make it freeze. Someone hitting it in anger too many times caused something to get damaged inside, therefore causing later freezes. It's easy to blame a higher being for something that either directly or indirectly was your fault, so you don't have to take responsibility for your actions.

Instead of just asking why does God allow this, try looking at the situation first and seeing what might have really gone wrong. Maybe your Playstation overheats if you play it too long, you should maybe get that checked out. If God was poking around, making Playstations overheat for his sole amusement at watching your face when the game froze and you couldn't save it, he wouldn't have much time to do other things. If anything, why not blame this on the Devil if you are going to blame a celestial being?

Just take a deep breath when things like this happen and realize that more often than not there's a perfectly good explanation for things going wrong. It's always good to remember God in your life, especially when things are caving in on you from all different directions like they sometimes do, so you can always have a companion at your side no matter what. But He is best saved for times when you absolutely need His help. It seems kind of foolish to think that God won't help on somethings and yes on others, but think of it as a salary cap almost; if you use up all His attention, what is He going to do when someone else comes calling? Just relax, things will be ok, and when you are fighting your demons from every corner and it seems like there's no one there to catch you, remember who always has your back, whether you think He does or not.

Praying is the key word. Many people do pray to the govt, not on their knees at their bedside but they rely on govt aid so much its the same as faith in god. So my previous statement applies

How is it the same? The government provides tangible aid that god does not. People who rely on the government have been given a real reason to do so.

You are so far gone in atheism that you dont understand that what faith (in any god) does to a person is tangible. It changes quality of life to a much better one, gives them hope, and to many happiness. Which is much more than what govt does. The problem nonbelievers have (and im not bashing anybody here) is that many of you cannot fathom the good that faith and religion bring. you all see the negatives and not the positives. Politics aside, beliecing in God is great, now depending on him for everything that u do is not good. Same as depending on govt is not good either

With all due respect, I don't think it's necessarily the faith in god itself (in most cases) that provides the fulfilling aspect of religion. I think it has more to do with the community that comes from being a part of a church that has more to do with it than anything.

Which is much more than what govt does.

Faith in god doesn't put food on the table or money in the bank or give you a break on your home loan; so no it's not more than the government does. That's the definition of "tangible". Happiness is intangible and subjective.

I understand the positives in having some higher sense of purpose, because it feels a hell of a lot better for someone to say to themselves: "I'm a garbage man because it's part of god's plan for me, and I'll be rewarded for my faith with the life I dream of having when I die." rather than to deal with the reality of: "I'm a garbage man because I'm not really all that smart, and (on top of that) I goofed off in school and never really put in the work at carving out a better life for myself. I'll never have the life I dream of having." They're entitled to belive that, I just think it sounds silly; and it becomes downright irksome when they try to restrict my rights to conform with their silly beliefs.

The problem is it may not fufill biological needs but it fulfills other needs. For example if your faith is what helps you get up and perform well at work, it does much more than govt will ever do
