Hey fellas! I think the Marlins CAN afford Mike Lowell. Will they choose to? I doubt it.

My heart tells me Trammell is too good of a baseball guy to not learn and make adjustments. The Tigers have some good players not ready for the major leagues yet. In fact, other than Pena and Munson I think you're seeing all of our lesser prospects get a chance. Cody Ross, Rob Henkel, Kenny Baugh, Curtis Granderson and Scott Moore are a ways away. I also like Hannahan and Raburn. Two 3B that remind me of Mike Lowell.

Thanks for the welcome. I am a believer that the job of any hitter is to get on base. Therefore I value OBP above any other stat. Even if your 1-9 hitters all just get walks you score 2 runs. SLG is very close behind and of course it is a very important stat for middle of the order guys. The best have both (Giambi, Thome etc.)

Reiterating... We like the Marlins. We hate Loria. We know the Tigers are horrible.

Hello fellas. I started that thread. It was started way before the season ever started. I love the Marlins. they are one of my favorite teams. I wish the Tigers were the Marlins. However, I think Loria and Torborg are idiots. They have potential to ruin some good young pitchers. Loria has been a bad owner for years. Also I am a big OBP and SLG fan. Juan Pierre does not walk much and had a really good year but hasn't been spectacular before or since. He's fast but you can't steal first (as they say). Encarnacion also has poor plate discipline. Again, I just don't like those two players. I like Castillo, Lowell, Burnett, Penny, Beckett etc. I just think Loria is a fool for not recognizing last year's squad with a couple free agents would be World Series caliber.
