  1. His "dumb" comments were taken out of context... No, they were not.
  2. ... he was misquoted and has the right of freedom of speech. This "freedom of speech" thing has gotten out of hand. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. There is nothing in the 1st Amendment that protects you from a public backlash to your dumb comments.
  3. The US is the wealthiest nation on earth I could have swore we were trillions in debt ... >_> In spite of the debt, we're the wealthiest nation on earth.
  4. Any reference to Hitler is only valid in the context of Castro killing millions of people. 2 million will probably turn out to be very low. Reminiscent of the leftist idiots who didn't think that Stalin had killed anyone, yet it turned out that 30+ million died between his purges and collectivizations and the ensuing starvation. Check back in 20 years when Fidel and Raul are long-dead, Cuba is again free and the truth of the Castros' murderous brutality finally comes out. You are talking out of your ass and I wish you would stop. There has been no mass starvation in Cuba that could account for "millions" of dead as a result of Castro. I don't know why you continue to assert something that you obviously have no way of sourcing. When Castro's misdeeds are exaggerated, it discredits his enemies.
  5. Damn, I'm half-Cuban and my family ran from Cuba so that I can live. Castro is a SOB of the tallest order, but Ozzy was just saying what many people say, even I've said it to my friends before. Castro is like a f***ing cockaroach, you can't kill his ass, he's outsmarted the USA for how many years? That's all Ozzy was saying. The US is the wealthiest nation on earth, and Cuba is dirt poor. Someone outsmarted someone for sure, but I think you got the order wrong. Castro destroyed Cuba to the point that they are virtually stuck in the 1950s, and the only way out of that mess is for Cuba to turn away from Castro's revolution. Fidel got curb stomped.
  6. The ESPN poll is interesting: http://espn.go.com/s...guillen-penalty By the results it seems most fans think its right suspension or too harsh. That includes Florida. Leads me to believe the media has made this bigger than it is. Am I the only one amused that Montana and Idaho are the only 2 states where the voters (so far) think the punishment was too lenient?
  7. aren't real ... made up ... fudging history. The only one around here fudging anything is you. Funny how you don't respond to the point even given a 50% cut in the numbers. How about we agree that Fidel only killed a few hundred and Mao a few thousand? Leftists like you defend leftists like Castro, etc. as a reflex. As you have amply demonstrated. What is your source for the 2 million number ... or even 1 million?
  8. Look, the guy on ESPN did not say Castro was just like Hitler, all he said was that Castro was Cuba's version of Hitler.) However, he never said Castro was just as bad as Hitler...just that for many Cubans Castro has left a scar as bad as Hitler has left on the Jewish people. Wait ... what? Who said that on ESPN? Not a regular I hope. It was Dan LeBatard. Oh man!
  9. ozzie should just speak in spanish exclusively Ozzie should stick to baseball.
  10. Look, the guy on ESPN did not say Castro was just like Hitler, all he said was that Castro was Cuba's version of Hitler.) 11. He's still talking about how Cuba is going to have a better future. Shut up and focus on your stupid mistake. Worrying about politics is what got you here in the first place. I hope he closes with "Viva Cuba libre!"
  12. You do know Castro did not kill two million, right? If Castro had killed 2 million, there wouldn't be any exiles. Fidel hasn't killed 1/10th that many.
  13. nobody will remember this by next week. non-issue. It's not a non-issue. In fact it's mostly a misunderstood issue. The Marlins need to fire Ozzie, not because of what he said, but because of what he might say next. If you value your brand, you don't entrust it to a loose cannon. He was a bad hire, and it didn't take him long to prove it. The sooner the Marlins put distance between themselves and this fool, the better.
  14. Tomorrow the news networks and ESPN will probably be showing images of the protest, so this story has the potential to cause national embarrassment to the Marlins. Assuming anyone shows up for the protest. I guess you've never dealt with the Cuban community when they get pissed ? Remember Elian Gonzalez in 2000 ? lol! My family is Cuban and I grew up right in the middle of every protest that occurred in Miami back when there was real heat in the anti-Castro movement. We were the people that got pissed. It's been a long time, and the younger generation has other things on their minds. Okay.....so you say........ :glare Well, if you're not a part of the exile community ... This is nothing like the Elian matter. There is no small child being snatched by force and being returned to Fidel. This is far closer the the "Los Van Van" protest.

  17. It can get you killed. And that is no joke. That hasn't been true for a long, long time. These days a segment of the community just makes a lot of noise. If you have heard some of the rhetoric I have on local Spanish radio today, you'd think otherwise. Some of these folks think Ozzie is a card carrying Communist, and think he is Chavez best friend. Yes they are the extremists but they are more than just nuts on the radio, some of those folks take action. Those aren't the extremists ... those are the loudmouths, and you can find them in any city.
  18. Someone needs to tell Ozzie to shut his pie hole and keep it shut. If people don't accept apology #1, then apologies #2, #3, #4, #5 ... aren't going to sway them. The best thing that he can do is stfu and try to ride it out. Tomorrow is going to be VERY interesting. Someone might try to take him out tomorrow. Again that is no joke. People who don't live here have no idea how sensitive this subject is in Miami. The only danger facing Ozzie is the threat of being lectured on the evils of the Castro regime and communism.
  19. Someone needs to tell Ozzie to shut his pie hole and keep it shut. If people don't accept apology #1, then apologies #2, #3, #4, #5 ... aren't going to sway them. The best thing that he can do is stfu and try to ride it out. Well, first apology was through an interview. This next apology will be public, POSSIBLY televised. May have a much better effect. It doesn't matter. Shut up, lay low, and wait for another event or scandal to shift the focus ... and then keep laying low.
  20. What do the marlinsbaseball.com Cubans feel about his comments? My father was a political prisoner, I have never been to cuba because of his exile. And neither of us care. Cubans come here talking of liberty, and yet when something comes up that they don't agree with, they immediately want to suppress it. Personally I believe and hope that the stadium will continue to fill and this will be forgotten, and I believe it is only a small group of activists that are making this bigger than what it has to be. This has nothing to do with liberty. The same right that Ozzie has to speak his mind, others have to protest, call for his firing, and organize boycotts. You have freedom of speech, not freedom from reprocussions.
  21. It can get you killed. And that is no joke. That hasn't been true for a long, long time. These days a segment of the community just makes a lot of noise.

  23. You move the team to Miami ... build a stadium smack dab in the middle of Little Havana ... and then alienate the local population. Brilliant! No chance that this blows over. Spanish language radio is going to be all over it. Ozzie is a moron and a PR nightmare. He was a bad hire, and the sooner he's replaced the better. Its been 3 games. He hasn't even done anything crazy yet. Oh and the goal is for the media to talk about him and the marlins. Its working. #winning That's a good chunk of the target audience that he just alienated. #winning indeed.

  25. Team is 7 for 59 so far on offense... .119 average. ONE NINETEEN! Gah, I know it's just 2 games, but damn. Other than Reyes, we're at .078 Or you could say that we only have 5 guys hitting over .000
