Hello, everybody. I went out to buy a cheerleader costume after my show. Big letter H in the front of the cute little outfit. I will use it to threaten the authorities that if they don't build this thing, I will wear it in public. Not a pretty picture.
All kidding aside, the mayor has indicated in the past that he was hoping to get this done before the end of may. He reiterated that again today. Nothing has changed.
I pressed him on the issue of the so-called gap, and how he had said before that whether or not the state approved the rebate, the stadium would still get done. They don't get any money from the exemption until they sell something at the new stadium. Nothing has changed there, either.
A couple of times he sounded like he had to think of a non-answer to give. There is still negotiating going on. I understand from other sources that the county is on board with the $$$. The tax revenues generated by everything that will be built there with the stadium as the pivotal piece will be enormous, all on land that at the present time is not generating SQUAT. That is why there is no gap.
The land for the stadium will be donated. Period, end of story.
I have put my reputation on the line. If I have been lied to, so be it.
However, I really do feel very strongly that this is going to get done, and there are still a lot of things that I am hearing that add to my positive feeling. I wish I could just say, this is what's going to happen, why it's going to happen, and when it's going to happen. However, it will get done.
Thanks to everyone for your support and your passion in keeping the Marlins in South Florida. See you at the games. :thumbup
